How To FULLY Bypass VATS PassKEY and Passlock Systems in GM cars

It’s when the security light starts flashing that the infamous “chip” in the key becomes a nightmare to many. The car won’t crank anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car – once and for all – by completely removing those systems.

GM Security: Secrets Revealed.

Thousands of people are trying to bypass GM VATS, PassKey and Passlock systems the wrong way. They just bypass a small part of it (key and lock) and so end up like I did with their car stuck again with the exact same problem far away from home and without understanding why. And with the closest dealer ready to jump on them with a 1,000$ invoice.

This is how you can do it right instead. With this unique method, in just few simple steps you will bypass the entire GM security system (including the Theft Deterrent Module), save your car and make sure the problem will never arise anymore. This works for most GM cars 86-09, it’s very easy to install, no reprogramming at all and you can do it yourself if you want.

Don’t worry at this point if you don’t understand these technical terms. You will. I didn’t even know what a PassKEY system was when it happened to me. Out of the blue my 1995 Buick LeSabre would just crank, the engine would start for 1 second and then die. But that’s when I rediscovered I’m an electronics engineer and developed this full bypass module that gave me the great pleasure of removing the security system and throwing it in the garbage can.

This is exactly how the problem starts almost all the times when the TDM is failing. It is gradual, then it will begin to don’t start on random days and then it will worsen till the car won’t start anymore. It might take 1 month to 1 year for this to happen, it depends how much you are using the car.

Hello Tino,

If your car never shuts off while driving, then it definitely looks like a VATS problem to me and specifically in the TDM. It is typical for the TDM to slowly worsen with time.

There is no risk in trying out our module, we successfully installed on almost any year of Camaro’s and if VATS is the problem, it will indeed fix it forever. And if it comes out that VATS is not the problem, you can just ship it back to us and we refund everything immediately – including shipping. This is our promise to all our customers.

I had Found the wiring from the module and the only thing that was different was the B-5 black wire. On my 97 Buick it was black/white. Got everything wired up and the car started right up. thanks for your bypass and for your tech help.

Would any normal local car mechanic be able to install the kit? I assume it could be a challenge for individuals who are not mechanics.

Hello William,
installation is very easy. You can do it yourself or any local mechanic can do it in about 1 hour. We provide detailed instructions for the specific model/year.

Aloha! from Hawaii Luke!! Your a genius!! I just want to thank you for putting up the information on how to build the bypass. My 92 Camaro would’nt crank, the security light would’nt even come on, and I found that the VAT Module decided to take a dump. I got the parts for your module, spent the day putting it together, I left the VAT module in the Dash. It’s buried behind the dash, right against the firewall. To save time, I pulled out the VAT fuse, ran a wire to the starter relay, and spliced your module straight to the computer, and VROOM!!! My baby started right up!!! Thanks you so much!! You saved me and my family!!!!:)

Luke thank you so much for the fix on my 2003 Impala. The problem has plaged us for at least 2 years of not being able to start the car for about 30 min sporadically never knowing when it would happen. Installed the module and seems to be working! Thanks again!

1994 Buick Roadmaster SAVED! This bypass works so buy here with no fear. Installation is not for novices but if you have a handy relative or friend then you might offer them a cold case to help you with this.
My Roadmaster had been neglected in a garage for 5 years when I became the new owner. Two Locksmiths tried to pull the VATS code and re-key with no success. The VATS module had expired. NewRockies=New Life.

I have a 1995 pontiac boneville and the engine will not turn over and the security light is flashing on the dash. Could someone help me out and tell me if this is due to the chip in the key or has to do with the security system? I see that you can by-pass the system but i have no clue where it is located on my car. Thanks guys for you help

I went back and checked my soldering at the IC connector.

There was one bad joint, which I repaired. It now starts & runs, a very good thing. I’m a believer–I’ve signed up for your affiliate program, and hope that I can help get others through this hellish ‘feature’ that GM built into all of it’s cars.

Thanks!! I owe you a beer!

Thanks Luke… My Supercharged Riviera is among the living!!

Received today and I went after it following the instructions. I cheated just a bit and removed the glove box to allow easier reach of componets, im not exactly small ;)

Hooked everything up and she was turning over for the first time this week! New problem… she would start but only for a moment. The instructions direct IF the car doesnt start AND the module has a blue wire swap connections with the green. I did just that and she fired RIGHT UP!!!!

EXCELLENT!!! Thank you so much Luke!!!!

luke, thank you so much for getting my 1995 buick riviera back on the road today, 6/17. i gave two mechanics printouts from your web page. i also wrote a glowing recommendation on buickforum.com so other buick owners will hear about your product. Also, i went to the hardware store and had a key made without the chip for 99 cents and it worked like you said. you need to add that savings on your reasons to buy page. it would have cost me about $75-100 to get a chip key made which goes a long way to paying for your module. …bravo. ren

Hi Ren, thank you for your kind words and for posting on the Buick Forums and for the tip on the key price. It’s a great point indeed.
You have a great car, I love the Riviera – it has a style on her own.

Luke June 15, 2010 at 1:31 pm

Randy, yes it will work for your 98 GMC. …And I know how you feel. Those systems are more anti-owners and anti-theft.
